Past Life Regression: Safety, Sessions and Online Options

For most emotionally steady adults, a gently guided past life regression is a calm and safe experience: you stay aware, can hear everything, and can open your eyes and stop at any time. It may not suit people living with psychosis, dissociative conditions or severe trauma, or anyone in crisis, so please check with your GP or psychologist first if that applies. Most people book one session, and some return for another theme later. Online sessions work well across Australia with a quiet room, headphones and somewhere comfortable to recline.
These are the practical questions people ask most before booking. Here are honest answers.
Is past life regression safe?
What makes it generally safe
- You stay aware throughout and can stop whenever you like.
- You cannot be made to say or do anything you do not want to.
- You cannot get stuck. If the session stopped, you would simply return to normal awareness or drift into sleep.
- A careful practitioner checks in often and guides you to view difficult moments calmly and from a distance.
Possible side effects
- Feeling tired, emotional or a little spacey afterwards, which usually passes within hours.
- Vivid dreams for a night or two.
- Stirred-up feelings about present-day themes.
Drinking water, eating, resting and writing notes help.
Who should check first
Please talk to your GP or psychologist before booking if you:
- live with psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or a dissociative condition
- have severe or recent trauma, or PTSD
- are in crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself (call Lifeline on 13 11 14, or 000 in an emergency)
- have epilepsy or another condition where deep relaxation is a concern
- are pregnant and feel unsure
- are under 18 (a guardian's consent and involvement is needed, and many practitioners only see adults)
What regression is not for
- It is not therapy and does not diagnose or treat any condition.
- It should never be used to "recover" memories from this life, such as suspected abuse. Please see a qualified mental health professional.
- It does not replace medication, counselling or medical care.
Questions to ask a practitioner
- How do you check whether regression suits me?
- What happens if I become upset during a session?
- Do you use open, non-leading questions?
- How long is a session, what does it cost, and when do I pay?
- Can I record the session?
Our guide on how to choose an Akashic Records reader lists green and red flags that apply equally to regression practitioners.
How many sessions do people need?
There is no set number. Many people book one session for a specific intention and find it enough. Some return weeks or months later to explore a different theme or life. A few book a short series for a longer exploration.
Be cautious if anyone says you need a large package before you have even started. Leave time between sessions to reflect and integrate.
Online or in person?
Online regression
Online regression works well for most people. You may even relax more deeply at home.
You will need:
- a private room where you will not be interrupted for two hours
- headphones
- a recliner, couch or bed with head support
- a device positioned so the practitioner can see you
- a steady internet connection, and a phone nearby in case the call drops
If the connection drops, you will simply drift back to normal awareness. Open your eyes, take a breath and rejoin.

For most people it is calm and gentle. It may not suit people with certain mental health conditions or severe trauma, who should speak to a health professional first.

How many past life regression sessions will I need?
Many people find one session enough for a specific intention. Some return later to explore another theme.
